"Night Patrol" is one of the most popular items of contemporary Russian fiction, namely Urban fantasy ( городское фэнтези ) . I really deserves to read it. Written in a very real and enjoyable way, presents the world of contemporary Russia (nineties), where the magic blends with reality, where words have enormous power, where you can always find out that you are another, and you need to decide: Light and Darkness.

Black vortex is actually quite an ordinary phenomenon. If I looked, I could find another five or six of those hanging over the passengers. But those are blurred, vague, barely turning. This results most ordinary, amateur curse. Somebody said, "you died, the beast." Another has a simpler and more subtle, "so that you messed up." And from the darkness flew a tiny tornado, a miniature tornado, suction in their success, absorbing force. "*

most interesting is that the light does is not so perfectly good, and darkness - evil. Each party has its advantages and disadvantages, and Lukyanenko not keeping hard and formulaic rules for "white and black." Here, anyone can perpetrate something, but now the most important is a balance, between the Light and darkness peace, which both sides guarding the grounds for this night, and daily patrols.

Sergei Lukyanenko
most impressed me in the book images to create Lukyanenko. It was enough that I started to read, and instantly became the world before my eyes: Russia, city, nineties, underground ... Everything! Paintings changed one by one, and I felt like I was really there. Places, characters, situations are very real, almost tangible.
Unusual in this book is also a tight bound by the magic of reality. Curses, threats, words - anything to speak without thinking, may have its effects and is much more important than we think.
Characters and amaze. There are shallow and one-sided, black and gray-white to violet and raspberry drops. Theoretically, we have bad and good, but after a while you begin to wonder who exactly is wrong here, and who is good and why? Does that not every foul action may be here to explain and justify? A noble gesture, anyone may conceal something from selfishness and deceit? And this is just amazing in this book. There are no ideals, they are ordinary and extraordinary heroes who make mistakes. Despite its excellent and age-old skills, provide stain, despite its yellow dziobowości, do something great and do not even realize it. Exactly as in life. And the characters, they know what is good!

"-You have a brandy? - Asked Olga.
-What? Cognac ... I have.
-Good?
-There is no evil. If it really cognac. "*

You can find this book a lot of planes, from the action, through fiction and culture of Russia, to the psychology and philosophy. And yes, feel that the author is a psychiatrist by profession;)
recommend! The book is written very well, and the idea seems to be quite original. For the characters very memorable, and not only they, many situations and dialogue still sit in my mind and constantly remind myself, luring me reached for the 'Daily patrol. " And in the end probably tempt me. And there! Already tempted! Because the first book of the whole trilogy is like a very, very tasty morsel ...

"He's for her sandwich, which took out her lips before she could bite it." *
