STOP! Monidło! Landscape

______

Szymon Burek

Lubelska STOP! Galeria działająca w Ośrodku Inicjatyw Międzykulturowych „Rozdroża” przygotowała niezwykła wystawę. Andrzej Rozycki together with Marcin Sudzińskim took a very interesting topic that came to life again some time ago. Monidło - because of the question - is a technique that combines portrait photography and painting.
Certainly each of us associate the wedding portraits. Most of our grandparents and parents have much of this memorabilia in their collections. Exhibition "Monidło" is a collection of dozens of portraits displayed in the main room and the hallway leading to the gallery. The authors gathered monideł examples from across the country. Among them were portraits wedding and family photos, portraits and landscapes. Prepared a small cabinet, which illustrated the process of creating monidła. An interesting complement to contemporary portraits were made with this technique.
Gallery on the occasion of the exhibition released a catalog with text by Andrzej Rozycki. The author in his text he writes that society today does not know the term "monidło. Emphasizes that most of our parents and grandparents have such monidło, although a contemporary ethnography does not deal with this phenomenon.

dozen images to illustrate the characters if taken out of another era. We see their faces filled with peace. There is no place to unnecessary things. It is an illusion monideł. They idealize the show world from a different, less the actual page. My attention was caught in a special way a wedding portrait of Maria and Stanislaus Jasińskich made on the basis of the ID photo in the early '50s in Torun. The woman dressed in a black dress, possibly with a white collar, her hair pinned tightly, her face strangely calm. Man: wearing a suit, slicked hair parting. None of them is not smiling. Why? After their wedding ...

Monidła is more than just photography. This hidden history of man's sorrows and joys. Meeting face to face with these images is something almost mystical.
not often you see so many monideł in one place! It's hard to criticize the works themselves, which exhibited. These are unique pieces made of a little-known technique.

The only problem that threw me in the eye concerned the same exposure and properly care for her. Monidła suspended in two areas. To get to the gallery of the Centre "Crossroads" have to call the intercom and ask to be allowed sightseeing. Here there was no problem. Trouble begins only in the middle. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to talk with the tutor of the exhibition. I have not met any of the staff of the Centre. At any moment I could take a picture and throw out the window. I hope this does not rule at this point. I believe that the gallery is a meeting place. Visitors have the right not only to come into contact with the works, but also should have the opportunity to meet with a tutor or a curator of the gallery. Can not claim to ensure that visitors can activate the same light exposure! ... I still remain vigilant the activities of the STOP! Galleries, and wish you the aesthetic experience.
beware!
