The Hitchhicker's Game Short Story

Daughters of shame - Jasvinder Sanghera

would seem that girls are forced into marriage a long time ago. Centuries ago indeed! And just in tales One Thousand and One Nights . Sealed in fairy tales and closed at its four releases. And maybe in Asia ... But who of us reflects on Asian countries and on how women are treated there? Because if we can imagine a situation where the parents show us a picture of a stranger of a man and declare that this is our future husband, a wedding is in two days?

Jasvinder Sanghera
personally met with this problem, because it is her own family wanted to marry her as a man, whom she had never seen. His story described the In his autobiographical book " defiled." In "Daughters of shame" while Jasvinder tells the story of many other people who come from Asian families, on whom she encountered, leading to its foundation.

Reading this book, one gets the impression that the site collects a plethora of stories of human tragedies. For one of the words "honor " some people are able to murder her own child. It is hard to understand something by looking through the prism of European thinking, But unfortunately these things happen, and I am grateful Jasvinder that realized this world and me.

Do you think that such tragedies are taking place in Asia? No ... This book is not about Asia, talks about the UK and immigrants living in it. That is where there are forced marriages and honor killings. Because the mentality is deep in our DNA and will not cure her change of scenery.
You also realize that not only women suffer in Asian families. Man can also be forced into marriage and become a victim of his wife. Just a gentle nature that life turned into hell.

I am glad that these books appear on the publishing market. Literature must show not only the idyll and carelessness. It should also learn to open your eyes and mind of the reader to the fact what is happening in the world. A lot is happening almost next door, but we do not always perceive, or do not want to see.

Publishing Prószyński i S-ka thank you for the opportunity to write reviews :)
